A Laser Extensometer of the type P-50 is used at a climatic chamber from -70 °C up to +300 °C. The system is integrated in the tensile tester and adjusted at the climatic chamber. The chamber was modified by Fiedler Optoelektronik GmbH.
The laser extensometer is used for tensile tests and three point bending tests. The measuring head is fixed on a base plate at the mounting, which makes it possible to move the measuring head sideways. The mounting allows the laser extensometer to be turned by 90 °, so that it scans horizontally for measurement of CMOD and CTOD at three point bending tests.
